There will always be storms on the horizon. Some come with warning, giving you time to prepare. Others show up suddenly, testing your resilience without notice. At times, the pressure feels overwhelming, like forces are working against you, trying to wear you down or break through the gates you’ve worked so hard to build. In those moments, strength isn’t something you wait to feel. You must choose it. Choosing strength means deciding that no matter what comes, you will stand firm or move forward, but never fall back.
Strength Is a Decision
It’s easy to think of strength as an emotion. After all, we feel confident, fearless, or unshaken. But real strength arrives when those feelings are absent. When motivation is low, strength is choosing to press on, no, even if outcomes are uncertain.
Having that resolve starts with your level of commitment. So, if you don’t have the strength to protect something, or fight for it, then maybe you aren’t as committed as you thought. Once you understand that strength is a choice, you regain control, even in situations that feel unpredictable or unbearably heavy.
Weathering the Storm

Storms have a way of revealing what’s built on solid ground. Challenges test your patience, your focus, and your ability to adapt under pressure. Although you can’t control the storm itself, you do control how you react to it. Do the following to endure the toughest seasons of life:
- Stay grounded in your values.
- Maintain perspective.
- Take persistent and consistent action.
- Keep searching for opportunities to learn and grow.
Strength through the storm is all about remaining steady despite it. Resilience is built by learning how to withstand hardship, not by trying to dodge it every time it heads your way.
Guarding the Gates
There will be moments when it feels less like weather and more like direct opposition: pressures, doubts, or external forces trying to rip down what you’ve created. In those times, guarding your mindset becomes critical. The train of thought that you allow to pass through your mind will either boost your strength or weaken it.
Guard the gates by being intentional with your influences and the beliefs you choose to reinforce. As a guardian, you must also choose truth over fear, focus over distraction, and purpose over discouragement. Strength grows when you protect the foundation it stands on.
Built Through Consistency

The strength to withstand any storm is built through the daily habits that make you so accountable and reliable: following through, showing up, and putting in the work no matter the circumstances. These repeated actions boost your endurance and prepare you for larger challenges.
As pressure rises, you won’t have to rely on bursts of effort—you can rely on the strength you’ve already built. The moment something comes barreling down at you, your stability and consistency will quickly transform into confidence and courage.
Stand Firm and Move Forward
Always remember, you get to choose your response, no matter what storm or enemy threatens your vision. Some days you’ll push forward with grit, and other days you may be forced to hold your ground and refuse to be pushed back. Both are forms of strength.
By choosing to stand firm, you send a clear message—to yourself and to the challenges around you—that you’re not easily shaken. And with each step forward, no matter how small, you uphold the truth that strength is something you live.
Sometimes, choosing strength looks more like choosing others instead of yourself. It’s easy to be selfish. But it takes a real leader to choose others first. If you want to really test your strength, head to our previous blog about how to serve others without just being a people pleaser.
